ACCREDITATION TO INDUSTRIES AND AREA


INTRODUCTION :


International Standards Organization is an international apex body established to promote the standards in trade, communication and manufacturing to be adopted voluntarily by the industries for continual improvement. Environment Management System : ISO 14000 Series Standards are providing impetus to sound environmental performance in terms of environmental compliance, market competition, public / stakeholder pressure and image of the industry in international trade. Benefit of implementing EMS : ISO 14001 are realised by the industries as well as regulatory agencies.

Compliance to ISO 14001 by the industry will ensure holistic approach to regulatory norms. In addition industries upgrade there environmental performance on continual basis. This would ensure that the industrial area would be open for further expansion and development without affecting the environment.

It is proposed to bring awareness among the industries towards ISO 14001 and assist them in accreditation of industries towards ISO 14001 and enhance there capacity for setting up Environmentt Management System as define in the standards.


SCOPE OF WORK :

  • Organise programes to bring awareness among the industries about ISO 14000 standards.
  • Assist industries to understand the requirements of setting Environmental Policies
  • Goals / Objectives to implement Environment Management Plans.
  • Provide advice and guidance in terms of consultancy for seeking accreditation.
  • Assist industries in setting up EMS and facilities thereof.
  • Assist industries in Environmental Auditing

following activities are to be carried out

  1. Selection of industrial area based on the gravity of the problem and requirements.
  2. To make presentation and help them understanding the EMS requirements.
  3. To prepare comprehensive Environment Management Plan for the area.
  4. Registration follow up for accreditation of the industries and the area.

Duration of the activity initially would be one year and may extend as necessary.
