Environmental Management System (e-EMS) is an environmental screening and mapping tool that provides GEMI with a reliable data and practice for highlighting pollution problem, which can be used for entrants for further evaluation, analysis, or outreach as it develops programs, legal requirement, policies and other activities. The tool provides both summary and detailed information at the user-defined area for both demographic and environmental characteristics. The summary information provided by e-EMS is in the form of maps, graphs, charts and indexes which combine demographic information with environmental indicator (such quality of Water, Air and Soil) that can help identify people that contribute the most toward overall disparity in the environmental status.
An objective for framing e-EMS
The e-Environmental Management System (e-EMS) is the protection from environmental and health hazards and equal access to the decision-making process to have a healthy e-Environmental Management System (e-EMS) with respect to the development, implementation and enforcement of environmental regulations. GEMI has this goal for all people of Gujarat that “everyone enjoys the same degree of access to the decision-making process to have a healthy environment in which to live, learn and work”.
As computer mapping technology has become advanced, GEMI recognized the opportunity and the need to develop a single, state consistent tool that can be used by the entrepreneur industrialist, statutory and regulatory bodies and public to understand environmental and demographic characteristics of locations throughout the State. Thus, GEMI wishes to develop Online Portal and will make it available to interested personnel in environmental issues. This online portal will create a platform to analyze the various sectors of the State in terms of distinct environmental parameters.
The Future Perspective of e-EMS
The e-EMS will be available to the public in late 2017 as part of a group of tools, software and GeoPlatform that will help coordinate mapping activities, applications and data across the Gujarat. The GeoPlatform will support a wide variety of uses, including components of e-EMS as well as other data and applications.
